![]() Overall though, we had a good time. For anyone looking for a fun family escapes away from the city’s pulsating nights, then the Magical Forest is the place to be. If we didn’t have a discount for going during the week, we would be frustrated. I would visit again to enjoy the beauty and sounds of nature, but as another reviewer had stated, it does seem a bit neglected. Our dogs had a blast and the site itself was private enough to have them off leash and feel comfortable. Overall this was misleading, but we had a great experience being in the wilderness and having a great campsite on the property. It is definitely not a location to swim in, only maybe dip your feet in, but we weren’t expecting to swim anyways. The trail on the facility isn’t well maintained but leads down to the creek on the property and is probably about 40 minutes round trip. ![]() There was also no wifi as advertised where I had checked by our site and by the restrooms. I think it was on for only part of the day, but there was no signage and the hot water was ice cold. The shower wouldn’t turn on and it appeared the hot water was off. I also don’t mind camping without showers or wifi, but when paying for these luxuries at a steep cost, I thought they would be available. We wanted to leave the place better, but were also worried about being charged for others’ mess. It wasn’t the best impression not having the site cleaned before hand, but we cleaned it all up. However, we arrived to our camp site and there was trash scattered throughout. This location is absolute gorgeous and magical. Bathrooms are solid, clean, and stocked with soap, paper towels, and TP. We didn't have any issues finding our campsite, and the other's looked plenty well marked (in daytime hours). Also, as of our visit the road is still in desperate need of repair and is a bit scary to drive down.Īmenities etc 7/10: No-one there to check you in or out or guide you, total free for all, but that was fine for us. This would be my biggest complaint as we found ourselves a little bored. ![]() If you are looking to do some exploring from your campgrounds you won't be in luck here. However, because this is private property, surrounded by other properties, there is just a single, relatively short trail (they advertise it as being longer than it is since they say to start at the 'big house' but half the trail is just the road going to the campsites). Definitely a peaceful and relaxing place. The surrounding forest is beautiful, stars are great at night. However, some of the sites we drove by looked teerrible, so make sure you read the reviews per site.Ĭampgrounds: 6/10. It's also one of the more secluded spots, much better privacy than you'd get at most state/national campgrounds. There was space to park 2 cars (which we paid extra for) and there was tons of space for us to set up multiple tents and also still have the picnic table / hangout area. Luckily for us, campsite 6 was fantastic. ![]() First of all, not all campsites are created equal. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and we'll help however we can!Ĭampsite: 10/10. Shopping such as Safeway, Costco and the big box stores are 20 minutes away in Soquel however, we have a charming little market (Summit Center) 3.5 miles away that has a great selection of groceries, drinks and hot foods, etc. ![]() It's not the Hilton - but it is gorgeous. Please note: This is camping - there may be bugs, critters, dirt, unpredictable weather (pack for the cold, just in case - we get surprise fog often!), early sunrise, no cell data, etc etc. Dogs and kids are welcome - dogs must be picked up after and kept on a leash if other campers are present. We have meditation teaching at the amphitheater and campers are welcomed to attend for free.Ģ5 minutes to Silicon Valley - 25 minutes to Santa Cruz Boardwalk we're centrally located in the south bay. Our campground has running water from a natural spring, Men and Women's Restrooms each with 2 toilets and 1 hot water shower and plugs for charging phones, laundry shed with sink and hot water, one BBQ grill by the fence up above the creek, and an outdoor amphitheater. We are a meditation retreat center with 45 acres of some of the most gorgeous redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains to enjoy hiking, creeks and small water fall exploration, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, star gazing, relaxation, meditation and more. ![]()
